Haven’t heard of kava? Kava is made from the roots of a pepper plant native to the South Pacific. It has a fascinating earthy yet numbing taste, that results from the high level of calming actives in the roots.

Natural kava is vegan, gluten-free, nonaddictive, and full of liver protecting properties.

Wow what a journey!

This is a unique kava that I can break out into a whole sonnet about, but should probably let you experience it for yourself. I do not recommend drinking this kava before bed as all of our minds were going wild and most of us couldn't sleep. We named it "wakea" after the god of the sky and light, as the experience reminded us of a light awakening within us. It's.. curious, to say the least.

On the tongue this kava is quiet delicious. It is a sweet wheatgrass with a cucumber juice back. Effects are more on the heady side, but expansive in creativity. we recommend it for daytime or pre-evening time

This kava comes from a single plant and was processed raw with the fresh green juice squeezed from its roots, then processed immediately with a proprietary temperature controlled dehydration process to conserve the flavors of the fresh juice

Wakea is a unique Panaewa varietal. It's wildly heady not in the cerebral sense which can cause slight headaches from... overstimulation? But more in the eye opening experience.

The best way to explain this was, it was like a fish eye lens was put on my vision and the ceiling was raised another 20 feet. I know this sounds absurd but this is the collective experience from 5 people during our test. I wouldn't recommend drinking this one before driving as it seems to have affected my depth perception.

drinkroot traditional kava starts with a careful selection of either single origin harvests or a hand selected blend of the top noble varietals, to create a unique premium mixture.

After the plant is pulled from the ground, the basal and lateral roots are separated, debarked, and cut up into manageable chunks for drying. The recipe

Our favorite way to make kava. You can go the long way, shorten this however you like, but this consistently makes the strongest grogs.

Recipe

  • 2-3 ounces of kava kava dried root powder
  • 2 ounces of full-fat coconut milk
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 strainer (nut bag, cheesecloth, etc)
  • 1 water boiler w/thermostat
  • 1 large bowl
  • Slices of Pineapple for taste
